Corey Rebhahn: Did Wrath Smell a Hyperian Rat Years Ago?

BLOWING THE WHISTLE ON THE DANGEROUS CULT OF HYPERIANISM

• FROM THE CITIZEN JOURNALISTS OF THE AC •

As far back as 2018, did Wrath have an intuition that Hyperianism was ghastly and must be stopped? We came across an old message discussing an Instagram story he created calling for the destruction of Hyperianism and Hyperians!!! He was way ahead of the game!

Check out these messages from NK and Irene, which also reference plagiarism by Jan Erikson regarding Irene’s work!
 Greetings,

What we found with people like Susan, Faith, and Void was that they had no interest in discussing, building upon, or improving what Irene was doing or what Apollonius would teach them. Instead, they prioritize backscratching and backbiting whenever they can.

They spend 99% of their time on Instagram or FB, just chatting, sending memes, sharing videos… but almost none of the time reading or even trying to make their group a reading club. That’s why Irene tried to get people to collaborate with her, to give them more purpose, to inject them with a higher calling. Every week or two, she’d collaborate with someone else, and they often proved unimaginative or completely blank, needing instruction or a script, with no initiative. The reason why we had valued Wrath was because he didn’t need instruction or initiative — he’d just create, and create it well. After a collaboration video, Hyperians wouldn’t discuss it, they wouldn’t try to build on it, or even ask questions. They simply returned to their Instagrams and to their FB accounts.

After every video Irene made, Faith would copy the exact same style and make some video containing empty gestures imitating Irene’s video. She’d make no references. I understand it’s art but motifs are unique to the artist, and they don’t just come out of thin air. Artists at least should be given credit so people know where these motifs are from. These are issues Irene had to deal with during her days in the movie industry, where people would simply steal her ideas or even film clips altogether and appropriate them as if they were their own.

To be honest, I don’t see Faith or Void doing any substantial, purposeful contributions. The clique structure of Hyperianism’s select people and of how they choose to interact means that new, interesting stuff just doesn’t make the rounds and isn’t added to. I recall Ezra Pound put in enormous effort to circulate the work of poets he found interesting, and that’s how he helped T.S. Eliot reach prominence. The poets, despite their differences, worked together and were keen on building each other up with critique, honest discussion, editing, etc. Imagine if Ezra Pound saw Eliot’s contribution and then said, “Oh, fascinating” and then returned back to his phone to share a selfie with some other “poets” he was hanging around with.

We’re in the shadow of greatness, and Hyperians are unwilling to grow past that shadow to reach for the light themselves. It’s not about Irene’s profile, it’s about the support network, about what we’re willing to do for each other. There is a fundamental lack of solidarity despite it being a social circle. We see it as being more about simply maintaining the social relationships for their own sake, and that means the group grows ever more hollow because of that.

[Note: The next reference is to a story we heard that Wrath was insulting towards Faith and others and created an Instagram story calling for the destruction of Hyperianism and Hyperians. We wanted to know if the story was true.]

You bet. All of this is true. I had agreed with Morgue that Wrath needed to be sanctioned for this, but not outright kicked out because he is a creative powerhouse. I made the point that results matter first, and if someone is being difficult but brilliant, then a lot of this should be chalked up to the quirks of their character.

What made the situation particularly problematic was that Susan has been acting as Hyperian’s inquisitor. I have no problem with the need for inquisitors (we probably need more of them), but of all people, Susan? Why her? When Susan called Irene to speak with her the first time, she spent 90% of the time just talking about herself. It’s been no different every single other time we’ve had a Skype call with her. Given that, after Susan’s first phone interview with Wrath, she immediately concluded he was a psychopath.

This is what makes it so rich: how does someone who talks all the time, who lives in the middle of nowhere, and who last took a psychology BA over thirty years ago, qualify as being able to discern what a psychopath is? I can tell you firsthand that the way to identify a psychopath is to either “bro down” with them or get under their skin and chip away at them until their veneer breaks (if only for a moment). The easiest way is to appeal to their narcissism, to work your way up to making absolutely nasty jokes with them, to saying how right they are about everything and egging them on. Did Susan do that? I don’t think so.

I’ve spoken with Wrath on a number of occasions, and so has Irene. A psychopath doesn’t just do things for people for free with the quality he puts into it. A psychopath doesn’t go and learn math for its own sake, or spend $400 USD on Mathematica to use as a mixing board. A non-stupid psychopath also doesn’t talk about offing the boss in front of the boss — even as a joke.

What Irene and I think happened with Wrath was that he was put into a position where everyone initially distrusted him, and for no good reason at all. He made that post about destroying Hyperianism, but we honestly think he was joking. He’s made a bunch of sarcastic posts before out of frustration, and unlike the others, he swiftly took that one down as well. Despite all this, he still wants to stay around, still loves math (and actually goes out and learns it), and still believes in Morgue.

When it comes to his spat with Faith, the issue was not as one-sided as Faith and the others had presented to Morgue. Faith and Void, through Susan, were already being difficult towards Wrath and engaging in backbiting and superficial niceties. Anyone who’s even a little bit smart and dignified is going to get mad about that, they’re going to get frustrated. I don’t know exactly what happened between those two, but neither of them had handled it very well. Instead of simply having a disagreement with each other and going into different corners of the room, Faith and Wrath both carried on with a public spat against each other, and both had tried to drag others into their spat.

We could not, in any good faith, take sides with either of them, but neither could we simply come down against Wrath, either, because he wasn’t the only person involved in this.

*****

Instead of asking Irene or Apollonius or anyone else about creative stuff, about gnosticism, people went to a complete outsider with no merits. It’s like political parties going and talking to the janitor about their problems and their plans.

In addition to this, what Irene and I both saw within the group as well was a very “liberal” attitude prevailing, where love and light and chemtrails were mixed in. Radicalism was not encouraged. Susan, for instance, trembles at even mentioning any serious redistributive measures against the elite.

We got to a point where people would say absolute nonsense, and the membership would only believe the refutations when Morgue personally stepped in to cement a particular view. I’m not sure how sustainable that will be in the long run.

“If you’re up for it, we’ll run it past Morgue again.” [This is a reference to our proposed second Hyperian movie, featuring Irene and NK alongside Morgue]

Yes, I’m up for that.

I had spoken with X a bit and given my previous words some more thought. I think Hyperians still need some more guidance. I’m not sure if Morgue would still want to co-operate.

I realize that Hyperianism needs a few important things:

1. More delegation.

2. More enforcement.

3. More reinforcement of Illuminism.

I asked Morgue if he would want to do a podcast with me on the regular, so that we can riff on stuff and thus encourage this reinforcement. I haven’t yet received a response. Again, that’s alright with me, perhaps I’ve made my own bed already and have to sleep in it, and if so, so be it, maybe that’s for the best.

As for those 3 points, I’m working with X on developing them. He has a knack with people, so we have developed a back-channel way for dealing with trolls in the future this way.

I am not sure how much of an effect I will have on Hyperianism, which is why I wanted to walk away. You see, when you try to encourage people to go a certain way and they don’t, it feels as if you’re wasting your time. Irene and I both have a lot to say and a lot that we can communicate, and there’s never enough time on this earth. Hyperianism in itself is a small audience compared to the greater outreach that can be made to other creatives. Focusing all one’s effort on Hyperianism — especially given the track record — reminds me of my previous wastes of effort on the Movement. Sure, I learned a lot, sure I made my own mistakes, but in hindsight I look at that and think my effort could have been better applied elsewhere.

I know, I still feel very conflicted about all this. At the end of the day, I just want to do the best I can do, make the best effect, and make Illuminism happen. Our best work so far has been away from groups and this sort of conflict, but we also know that we’re still needed in presence. It’s hard to square that with everything that’s gone on.

All the best,

[N] & Irene
NK and Irene continued to find Hyperianism problematic and sent this message:
I have given your email much though and discussed it over with Irene and considered how to go well.

Irene has left Hyperianism altogether and is carrying on with her videos and with Illuminism in her own artistic direction. Here is one of her new videos:
What I have done is stayed in Hyperianism, but I have largely removed myself from their discussions and their social circles. That much of a move is already a relief. I have chosen to stay because of what Morgue has told me: a lot of people look up to me, and think very highly of me. I think it’s in Hyperianism’s best interests that others see that I still support Hyperianism, even if I disagree with two or three ‘senior’ figures. There is a certain level of confidence I want to encourage, and I can do this without tangling myself up in the (rather frustrating) social aspect.

It’s when one sees derivative works that don’t push the envelope, that are ‘same but different’ in the most unimaginative way possible—that’s when one artist disrespects another. To not have the creativity to push the envelope but just take what’s there and claim it for oneself, that’s where there’s an issue.

But all of that is fine now. What’s done is done. I can’t make people realize or think that it’s up to them to grow up.
On another occasion, we received the following message from NK and Irene:

Greetings,

I have decided to make you aware of an incident that had recently occurred between Irene and Faith, where Irene and I had noticed that Faith had copied a video Irene had made, and that this resulted in some fallout between Faith, Irene, and myself. I wanted to explain the situation for your records and to communicate some of my disappointment about all this.

Irene had produced a video [Deleted]:

One week later, this video was posted by Faith [Deleted]:

Plagiarism is a funny thing in film and cinematography, because it’s far more slippery than simple copy-pasting or lazy rewrites as we see in writing. Relevant issues in a plagiarism case deal instead with shot composition, theme, motifs, and the composition thereof. Often, a deciding factor in such cases is also whether or not the accused had any contact with the material of the complainant. In this case, theme and composition are nearly identical; the title is also very similar, and Irene and Faith’s statements at the end also say the same thing. This was greatly upsetting to Irene, and to myself as well, because we had at least hoped that people would hold themselves to a higher standard than this.

We decided this was a case of plagiarism because of the similarity in shot composition, Faith’s interest in the video, and the one-week time lag between Irene’s publishing of the video and Faith’s publishing of her video. There is sufficient similarity, there is evidence of contact, and there is a reasonable time gap for the production of the video. Furthermore, what led us to concluding Faith had copied the video was her common copying of Irene’s videos on Instagram from the temporary feed: one moment Irene would post something artistic, and another moment, Faith would follow up with something exactly the same as that. It’s been a small but tolerable bother and nothing we’d bring up with anyone since that was petty.

However, because of the work and meaning of this video and its significance to Irene, we couldn’t simply pipe down and not complain.

I brought this up with Morgue, and he shared my concerns with some other, undisclosed Hyperians and they thought no plagiarism was involved. I suspected this would happen, so I had made the decision to block and remove Faith from all my channels, and Irene had also done the same. Some people close to Faith found my actions “uncomfortable” (in Morgue’s words). I consider them perfectly symmetrical: rather than going out and making a fuss in public, I would prefer just to cut out the offending party from my life and leave it alone. This movement is more than large enough to have some breathing room. Furthermore, I consider my action not a form of insubordination, but of a need for space. Even if some people ruled against Irene and I on the matter of plagiarism (despite their not having the nous to understand what plagiarism is in the broader multimedia sense), in no way are we obliged to maintain communication or friendship with such a person. In any everyday situation, simply refusing to speak or spend time with someone after such an incident is perfectly fair and understandable.

I consider this scenario analogous to situations of plagiarism in poetry: if T.S. Eliot wrote a new poem in a new meter and extended his generosity to a younger poet, only to find out that the younger poet writes a poem in the very same meter, the very same theme, the very same meaning line by line, but only has different sentences and rhymes, then Eliot would be disappointed but not intimidated.

However, even if they were in the same creative club, Eliot would not extend the same generosity or desire to communicate prior to that. Though neither of us are as great as Eliot, we don’t feel the need to communicate or be generous with people like this.

The response from some of the Hyperians (Susan, Megan, etc.) has been different. Where we kept this matter between Morgue and ourselves, and kept it strictly symmetrical, Irene has noticed a tangible change in viewership and support since we complained to Morgue about Faith. Her viewership did not drop, but what had happened was that these Hyperians were paying attention but not lending any support in any way. That indicates that news has gotten around about this all, and they’ve taken sides.

Of course, Faith is not going to admit to plagiarism — it’s a serious charge and she has a lot to lose. However, some of these Hyperians are not going to recognize (or want to recognize) the problem. That’s okay, that’s why we had preferred the discreet and symmetric approach. What we were met with was indiscretion on their part, gossiping and the like.

For Irene’s part, she will finally resign from Hyperianism. This was her last straw. However, she will not resign from the Illuminist cause or anything of the sort: instead, she will pursue it independently and try to go for a broader audience. Her own viewership is far more diverse than just Hyperianism so this doesn’t hurt her work in a strategic sense. The problem was that there is a social clique within Hyperianism, and that clique is mostly of artists. Whereas the logos people in Hyperianism are far more cooperative and willing to support each other, artists vie for attention and are willing to do almost anything to get that attention. Irene’s not that kind of artist, so to be met with schoolyard-like competition and plagiarism when she expected cooperation is a painful lesson. She still supports Hyperianism, but wants to leave quietly and without kicking up a storm: that way, it’s for the better for everybody.

I won’t resign from Hyperianism, but I haven’t let Faith or Morgue remain unaware of my displeasure about this. Irene and I work as a team, so to have this happen is troubling and insulting. However, I do not work with these artists, and I do not have any obligation to pay any attention to them. My focus is on logos and making sure logos content gets out there, and that’s what I’ll continue to do. Some people (Susan in particular) were worried that my proximity to Irene would somehow compromise my presentation of logos content, i.e. they were “uncomfortable” that a voice such as mine could have a fallout with another major figure. Fallouts happen, but not a peep has been made on any public channels.

Of course, my esteem of such people is lowered again, but I’ll let them figure out what it truly means to maintain unity, and to have a balance between the personal and impersonal in a movement that’s bigger than all of us.

It is the curse of nobler souls to be haunted by ignoble ones. It’s disappointing but unexpected that this applies for Hyperianism’s ranks. I envision a group of people who are more ruthless, more austere, more idea-driven, more “Darwinian”, even. Maybe one day the ideal and the reality can meet, but we still need more work.

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

[N] & Irene
Somewhat ironic given that N was himself a plagiarist! Only two books about ontological mathematics have been written by non-AC/PI authors: one by the plagiarist NK (former leader of online Illuminism) and the other by the plagiarist Corey Rebhahn (current leader of Hyperianism, the replacement for online Illuminism). What a world!

It shows you just how powerful ontological mathematics is that it is so plagued by plagiarists!
So, what’s going on with top Hyperian Joel the Swindler (“Jesus is King”)? Did anyone see last night’s deadstream live? It seems that the Swindler showed up last night and was greeted by all the usual suspects (Shope, Mitchell, etc.) and then started preaching Christianity (quoting Bible passages, and so on)!!! He then got banned by Mitchell, and that, it seems, somehow removed him from his subscription. So, it seems he signed up again, causing bafflement to Morgy Porgy who had to check if the Swindler’s name was still in the Hyperian credits. So, now we have an ultra-Christian bible thumber – openly preaching Christianity during the deadstream – being explicitly banned by Porgy’s best friend Susan Mitchell and then getting shouted out by Porgy just minutes later. What a clusterfuck. So, Porgy loves having top Hyperians who preach Christianity to Hyperians! You couldn’t make it up! The senseless became even more senseless. Hyperianism seems to be now openly sanctioning the preaching of Christianity, via Porgy, while opposing it and banning it, via Mitchell.

Joel, if this is in the bible, please provide references as to which books and verses, as that is a ridiculous claim, I’m sorry…

@JoelSwindler The bible most likely doesn’t explain all of that 🙂

Please note: Being a channel member does not allow permission to preach religion in here. You will be banned

Except he hasn’t been banned. This top Hyperian – a fanatical Christian – was shouted out by Porgy at the end. Morgy Porgy – Mr RTS and a former fundamentalist Christian – LOVES taking money from Joel (“Jesus is Lord”) Swindler, a current fundamentalist Christian. Never let priniciple get in the way of cash, right Porgy?!

Total insanity!
