BLOWING THE WHISTLE ON THE DANGEROUS CULT OF HYPERIANISM

One of our favorite thinkers is the political journalist and documentary filmmaker Adam Curtis. He wrestles with one of the main problems that obsesses us: the relationship between the individual and the collection of individuals (the collective). He continuously points out how “radical individualism” has killed off collective action and solidarity. This is one of our main political themes.
Curtis said, “I’ve been trying for quite a while to use film to invent a different kind of journalism—to do essays which tell stories, but their real function is to make people pull back and look at their time and to say: Look—in this age of the individual, where you are told that you are the center of the world, power hasn’t gone away. It’s just mutated and morphed into all sorts of different forms, some of which are good, some of which are bad, some of which have grave consequences.”
We want to create a compelling Mythos whose “real function is to make people pull back and look” at what is REALLY going on. The story is the hook that makes people interested in the issues, themes and ideas underlying the story. Look at the work of Jordan Peterson. He takes Biblical stories (pure Mythos) and then reinterprets them through the filter of his conservative reading of Jungian psychology. His audience go wild for that. In effect, he justifies the Bible by saying that it’s a Mythos that conceals deep truths that those who have the eyes to see can discern. This is a compelling idea for most people – they love the notion that they can get to a “special” level of truth. The QAnon conspiracy theory gave the masses the idea that they were getting access to the highest level of official intelligence (Q-level clearance) and they went mad for that shit.
Some people have become obsessed with our work because we are – literally – addressing the fundamental issue of existence, namely what IS existence. Because once you know that, you can work out everything else, i.e., all the consequences and ramifications of existence. We are the only people in the world addressing this subject, THE SUBJECT. That’s why the Hyperian cult refuses to fuck off away from our work. Once you have accessed the TRUTH, you can’t then back off to something else, knowing it’s NOT the Truth. And since Hyperianism won’t leave the Illuminist answer to existence to Illuminists, that’s why Hyperianism must be ended. It has taken the Illuminist answer to existence and made it the plaything and personal vehicle for the cult leader – plagiarist and conman Corey Rebhahn – to MONETIZE it (and make him a millionaire, living it up in swanky Hollywood) and try to make himself a global celebrity on the back of it. That will NEVER happen.
Returning to Curtis, he is preoccupied, as we are, with POWER, and especially who has it, who wields it, and how to get it.
Reflect on what Curtis said: “… in this age of the individual, where you are told that you are the center of the world, power hasn’t gone away.”
Individuals are told that THEY are the power, but self-evidently, THEY ARE NOT! Imagine how psychologically disturbing it is to be told you are the center of the world, the center of power, when, clearly, the world doesn’t give a fuck about you, doesn’t know who you are, couldn’t care less about you, and regards you as a total irrelevance. Individuals should in fact be told the truth – that they are POWERLESS, and can only gain power by UNITING. This is what left-wing politics has ALWAYS been about. The libertarian right-wingers have always peached the message of individual power, and complete detestation of the collective – just read Ayn Rand. Corey Rebhahn – cult leader of the sick and dangerous right-wing, reactionary and counter-revolutionary cult of Hyperianism – continuously preaches to his brainwashed cult followers that if they obey him, they will “come into their power”. Of course, they won’t. They will become even more powerless, atomized, fragmented, cut off from the real world where the dynamics of power are the opposite of what Rebhahn – a total cretin – claims. But, of course, Rebhahn’s primary agenda is to make money and fame for himself and in that respect he has been quite successful.
In the world of the individual, the individual enters into the FANTASY of having power, while having no power in reality. Look at Hyperians. They produce these laughable memes where they imagine they are hyperaware individuals with immense power, shaping the world and changing human consciousness. That’s the fantasy they have been groomed to believe by Rebhahn – so that they will venerate him, give him loads of money and always do his bidding (it’s all about Rebhahn’s power over them!). In reality, these people are powerless nobodies who will be totally crushed by the world. Rebhahn himself will end up in jail. There is no power in Hyperianism, just the fantasy of power, but that’s the only type of power you will get in a totally individualistic world. Real power lies with the super-rich elites, and the only way they will ever be defeated is through collective action. Rebhahn preaches the opposite of that. He has never once sided with the working class, and all he does is preach false consciousness, not class consciousness. He is an active agent of the super-rich elite, and the longer it takes for the FBI to bring a prosecution against him, the more it looks like he is actually being protected by the FBI.
The calls for the FBI to be defunded seem entirely valid. The FBI looks more and more like an utterly corrupt organization with no interest whatsoever in truth and justice and is actively helping sick cults to attack the legitimate critics of those sick cults. Corey Rebhahn is a self-evident, proven criminal and it is truly astonishing that he has not been arrested yet. The evidence against him is incontestable, but the FBI appears to have zero interest in that fact. Why not?! Is Rebhahn an FBI agent? When the expected and inevitable course of events does not take place – Rebhahn and his criminal gang being arrested for their PROVEN criminal actions – it can of course only be because of corruption in the process.
The three individuals swatted by Rebhahn cannot bring a criminal action against him BECAUSE of the FBI (their investigation must end before anything else can happen). We suspect that Rebhahn’s function was to infiltrate us and sabotage our work and message – given that this is exactly what he attempted to do! Since he is not being arrested by the FBI, they must be protecting him, which is why he is so nonchalant about the whole thing. Rebhahn ought to have been arrested weeks ago. Why did Rebhahn mention lawyers FOUR TIMES regarding his former mod’s resignation? That is AS WEIRD AS FUCK. What normal person does that? No normal person does. But someone working for the FBI would be straight onto the legal angle and law enforcement. Rebhahn has given the game away. He is a stooge of the establishment. His dad’s a cop. He was probably identified years ago as “the right kind of guy” for this type of operation. The FBI won’t arrest him because he’s one of them, and they won’t allow swatting charges to be brought against him – because they were in on it!
The FBI probably has guys like Rebhahn seeded everywhere. Cults are a superb way of controlling the credulous masses and spying on the masses. Aren’t you curious that a mysterious rich donor miraculously appeared just when Rebhahn desperately needed it? This cult needs to be thoroughly investigated. It reeks of bad faith and sinister backers. It’s a puppet of the establishment, trying to discredit us. However, all it actually proves is how afraid the authorities are of our revolutionary message and system – the one that finally delivers truth and justice (unlike the FBI! … who on earth would work for that organization and consider themselves a decent and moral human being, on the right side of the argument and history? – this is an organization defending sinister cults!)
Curtis wrote, “As I was growing up in journalism, I began to realize that the mainstream of political journalism, both the left and right, were sort of collapsing in on each other and becoming very narrow in their focus—they had a kind of consensus view that was enforced by think tanks and things like that, and I wanted to take a kind of helicopter view. But you’re spot-on: It’s about power.”
Political journalism, whether liberal or conservative, is a total joke now. None of it can be taken seriously, or believed. It’s all corrupt and advancing the vested interests of the corporate elites. Every institution is fucked. Look at the FBI. Who would trust those people to do the right thing?!
Curtis said, “I found footage of one of the women who had been one of the leaders of Tiananmen Square that was filmed a few nights before the crackdown in 1989. Watching it, when you see her beginning to realize that individualism could never produce the kind of collective power that old-style revolutions had produced, you realized that what she was doing was being deeply honest about the central dilemma of our time, which is that mass democracy depended on the collective power of the people to give them the power to challenge things. But then it produced this thing called individualism, which, like a horrible, monstrous child, began to eat mass democracy—to such an extent that, as I point out in the film, people like Bill Clinton and Tony Blair realized that they had no collective power anymore. And you can’t blame them—they just gave up.”
This is what political journalism ought to be about – the realization that democracy, freedom and individualism HAVE TOTALLY FAILED. Only the collective can beat the establishment, but democracy, freedom and individualism have eliminated the collective. Now you get weird freaks like Corey Rebhahn telling people the same old crappy New Age lie that the way to change the world is via “raising consciousness”. The way to change the world is in fact to be in power via collective action, and have a whole new paradigm ready to implement, transforming society via the positive liberty policies of the Benevolent, Platonist State, operating dialectically (as per Hegel), via a social contract with every citizen and enacting the general will (as per Rousseau), facing political reality (as per Machiavelli), celebrating the talented, exceptional individual (as per Nietzsche), glorifying the collective (as per Lycurgus and the Spartans), and creating Autonomy and Self-Mastery (as per Riesman). Rebhahn’s Hyperian cult preaches the opposite of all that! That’s why it must be “vanished”.
Curtis said, “What I’m trying to trace in these films is the rise of that dream: that instead of an overarching narrative given to you by a dictator or a communist theory, you could have millions of people expressing themselves and living their own stories.”
The modern world is all about the replacement of grand narratives that unite people with absurd, atomized stories that appeal to a handful of people. Look at the grotesque Hyperian cult with its fanatical 300 cultists, telling a story that the rest of the world LAUGHS AT. These people can’t even unite themselves. Just the other day, one of their mods fucked off – a man who REFUSED to tell the truth about what he really thought of Hyperianism. What kind of human being is that? It makes us shudder. Yet these people claim to be hyperaware world shapers. So ridiculous. People without courage will never accomplish ANYTHING.
Look at social media. This comprises billions of people telling their own stories – total fragmentation. There is no common narrative, no big story to unite people. We are staggeringly impressed by QAnon – not because of the insane story it tells – but because it managed to unite tens of millions of people and even launched an attack on the US Capitol – an enormous and consequential real-world event. It has completely taken over the Republican Party. The Republican Party isn’t Trump’s Party, it’s Q’s Party. The left desperately needs its version of QAnon. Absolutely no one needs the liberal, New Age shit peddled by Hyperianism, all about “raising consciousness”. What a fucking joke. People ought to be EMBARRASSED to be in that cult. It’s total cringe.
Curtis said, “That started off as a noble utopian idea in the late 1950s and 1960s. But by the time you get to our current age, what you have is millions of individuals anxious, uncertain, and frightened of the future and definitely feeling rather disempowered.”
Absolutely! The “counter-culture” went horrifically wrong because, as is now obvious, it actually preached a more individualistic, negative-liberty, right-wing message than the right wing itself. The right-wingers were restrained by conservative Christianity. The hippies got rid of that and created a completely far-right culture that DETESTED the transformative, positive-liberty Big State. America now has two far-right tribes: the conservative far right (Christians) and the liberal far right (the Woke). Both sides are nauseating beyond words.
Curtis said, “I wanted to trace why that happened because if you do want to change the world, you’ve got to recognize what that era of individualism did. It was a glorious, wonderful moment—especially the ’90s; I still don’t think we’ve really understood the ’90s yet, which was an absolutely fascinating period.”
WTF! Is Curtis tripping?!
The most fascinating decade is … THIS ONE! You should be thankful you are alive in these decisive times.
Curtis said, “What I also wanted to say at the end of my films, and I think I said it clearly enough—is that you’re never going to put individualism back in a box; it’s a thing, and it’s a thing in China, Russia, wherever you go.”
This is false. A strong State could easily put individualism back in the box. Sparta completely eliminated individualism in the modern sense. There were amazing individuals in Sparta – but they all served the State without question.
Curtis said, “But the politics of the future will be someone or something that finds a way of allowing us to still feel we are individuals and express ourselves as individuals, yet at the same time, without giving that up, feel that we’re part of something that is strong and powerful and can change the world and will go on beyond our own existence.”
THAT’S ILLUMINISM!
We are the plan. We are the prophesied future. Why? Because we are the dialectic. We are its culmination. We are the Omega Point of the evolution of the Noosphere.
Will Fenstermaker wrote, “In all of these stories, individual emotions are the most powerful guiding force. Curtis argues that systems of power and influence—from colonialism to conspiracy theories—have splintered collective identities and given rise to an age of individualism that overwhelms any sense of communal and social good. Curtis’s subjects insist on their individuality, which leads them to demand the world conform to their image, but they are unable to form collective aspirations that could actually change things.”
This is the key point. Individuals now insanely expect the world to conform to their image – just look at the deranged message preached by Corey Rebhahn – and are inevitably crushed when the world, rightly, tells them to fuck off and wait to be marched over by the Spartans. The world is NOT going to do what you want. Snap out of that demented thinking. You have to get yourself aligned with a message that actually has the power to change the world … and that will be a message based on COLLECTIVISM, not the extreme individual or any exotic minority. Get fucking real. Live in the real world, not your fantasy META world. Take off the fucking headset and face reality, like the Spartan 300. Only the collective can change anything.
Fenstermaker wrote, “Individualism is both a natural result of mass democracy and a blight on it; politicians have become uninspiring, limited to managing details at the fringes. Curtis laments the absence of collective meaning.”
Don’t we all?! The working class can succeed ONLY when collective meaning is restored, and that means the end of “freedom and democracy” and the end of extreme individualism. It means the return of collectivism, togetherness, society, community, universalism, solidarity, common purpose, the general will. It means the opposite of what far-right Wokeness preaches, and therefore the opposite of what Morgue preaches.
Will Bedingfield wrote, “Followers of Curtis’s work will recognize one theme – he tries again to square the circle of the individual and the collective. In Curtis’s eyes, this is pretty much the definitive theme of the 20th century. Individualism, he argues, began as a utopian ideal: freedom through self-expression. Then it morphed into consumerist enslavement. In other words, Curtis hates hippies.”
FUCKING HIPPIES. The scum of the earth. They really are. Look at how many Hyperians are degenerate hippies and drug addicts.
Curtis said, “The great big shift, which is the root of our age, is that somewhere in the late 1960s, the radical left who talked in terms of power, society, overthrowing the power structure – all that rhetoric – gave up. And instead, encouraged by radical psychotherapy, they went for an alternative idea which said, ‘Okay, if you can’t change the world, in terms of power structure, what you do is change yourself.’”
That’s the whole game there. The radical left must get back to overthrowing the power structure via collective action. The left must be absolutely purged of all those talking about “changing yourself”, as the ludicrous Hyperian cult (a far-right, anti-collectivist group) does. That will have no effect at all on the world, even if it worked (which it doesn’t) … just look at Hyperianism!
Will Bedingfield wrote, “When this culture of narcissism didn’t bring the Me Generation the nirvana they hoped for, corporations stepped into this emotional void. They offered these people other ways of pacifying their emptiness, like products to buy and pills to swallow – Robert Sackler, the developer of OxyContin, enters stage left – while the ideology that was actually generating this pain mushroomed. Fast forward to now, narcissism remains a generational diagnosis and the enemy of collective action.”
Precisely. The world is suffering from a pandemic of narcissism, and the people in charge of the sad and desperate narcissists are pathological narcissists like Corey Rebhahn, a man wholly opposed to the working class and collective action. He constantly tells his cult worshipers not to give away their power (even though they have all given it away to him!). In fact, you must join the collective and have your power expressed through the collective. As Rousseau showed, everyone is made more powerful under the GENERAL WILL.
Curtis said, “You can’t just blame the elites. It’s you, it’s us, who are as much at fault for doing this. It’s not what the left or the right wants to hear. But it’s sort of true. If you have a society full of individuals, it’s like herding squealing piglets; you can’t collect them together into a mass group.”
Indeed. It’s staggeringly difficult to get people to unite behind anything, to make any sacrifices for the collective. The Spartan 300 gave their lives for Sparta, Greece, and their own immortal glory. You don’t get people like that today.
Nick Bradshaw wrote, “Of course, Curtis is hardly the first to level a charge of vacuity at our secular society; I came of age in the 1990s reading Douglas Coupland’s Generation X and his other portraits of a West that had sacrificed God and now, with nothing to look up to or forward to, was stuck navel-gazing, with no stories to tell.”
Aren’t you fucking sick of the navel-gazers? Whenever you come across a meme by a Hyperian, you always want to throw up! These people are so ghastly. They are awful, awful, awful!
Curtis said, “It’s the downside of trying to create a society full of individuals who live in their own worlds and their own dreams. After a while you run out of steam.”
That’s it right there. The narcissists have totally run out of steam and are now completely stuck. Billions of people are imprisoned by their own ludicrous dreams that will NEVER come true.
Curtis said, “You know, that question of ‘What’s it all for?’”
Indeed. What’s it all for?! It certainly isn’t for pathological narcissism! That’s DEATH!
Curtis said, “I had this idea, and I don’t think it’s nostalgic, that the old function of politics, as well as to manage and govern, was at least to give a framework of purpose. And in a funny way Mrs Thatcher was the last one who did that. She created the society that started to eat itself – but she knew what she wanted.”
Thatcher – a disgusting evil witch – at least believed in something. Even that’s gone now. This is the age of pure nihilism, which is why titanic wars are now inevitable, as Nietzsche predicted:
“What I relate is the history of the next two centuries. I describe what is coming, what can no longer come differently: the advent of nihilism. This history can be related even now; for necessity itself is at work here. This future speaks even now in a hundred signs, this destiny announces itself everywhere; for this music of the future all ears are cocked even now. For some time now, our whole European culture has been moving as toward a catastrophe, with a tortured tension that is growing from decade to decade: restlessly, violently, headlong, like a river that wants to reach the end, that no longer reflects, that is afraid to reflect.”
The end has come!
Curtis said, “I think it’s right what Coupland was asking: ‘Well then, what do you believe?’ I suppose you’re supposed to believe in yourself, really, and if you didn’t there are lots of psychological ideas that would help you. But that’s sort of run out of puff now.”
And that’s it. People are told to believe in themselves rather than something greater than themselves. I’ll tell you this – you will NEVER be happy unless you become part of something bigger than yourself. Only by that means can you transcend yourself. This is not a solipsistic universe. There is a vast reality out there that ISN’T YOU. Don’t you think you ought to align with it?
Curtis said, “I’ll tell you what was lurking in the back of my mind and still lurks in the back of my mind throughout all this. What we are living through is a generation of liberal progressives who are feeling that power is moving away from them, and they don’t have any alternative, because they’ve run out of steam. Their roots lie in a radical culture back in the 1960s and 70s, and they retreated into culture in the 80s because politics went to the right. And they lived in that world of radical culture for quite a long time, still thinking they were powerful. And what Brexit and Trump showed them is that actually large chunks of the working class don’t care about their visions any longer. They’re angry and they want something else – not that benign paternalism which we saw with the Clintons and Blairs and their technocracy.”
Fuck the liberals. Fuck the Woke. Fuck the conservatives. The working class has had it with all that shit. The working class is, rightly, looking for its own salvation, and can get it only through the working class itself. We, the working-class intelligentsia, have a sacred duty to find the means to unite the workers and bring them to the world that places them at the center, and works tirelessly to optimize them!
Curtis said, “I mean, I’m doing lots of other things in these films, but I am charting a class beginning to feel power slipping away from them.”
The elites, whether liberal or conservative, are totally fucked, and they must be pushed off the stage. Sick-fuck cults like Hyperianism – working for the establishment – must be cleared out of the way.
Curtis said, “One of the things I’m trying to say in these films is that individualism, whilst being a product of mass democracy, began to eat away at mass democracy in all sorts of ways. And one of those ways is that art got possessed by the idea of self-expression, and gave up on trying to tell us about the realities of power, which is its real job in society. At which point – which I think is one of the fundamental truths of our time – power became invisible. It just disappeared; we don’t know where it is. There isn’t an art that tells us about it now, dramatizes it. The closest, funnily enough, is Damien Hirst, who got in there.”
Fuck modern art … bourgeois, reactionary, counter-revolutionary shit. Fucking Rebhahn hangs out with all those crappy, talentless, trust-fund artists and fancies himself an artist. What a joke. Art – modern art – must be fucking killed off. It’s an obscenity. That whole Rebhahn crew must be rendered pariahs.
Curtis said, “Can I say that I think what you’re doing is projecting a pessimistic ideology that you feel on to my films? I think I make it pretty clear that there is a great desire to change the world. Let’s look back at why past attempts to do that failed. One of the fundamental reasons is that the mistake people made in the age of the individual was to think that you could change things without taking account of what is inside people’s heads – the old ideas they’ve inherited from the corrupt world that you’re trying to change, yes? I don’t think they’re pessimistic, I think they are trying to confront these issues which the left and the progressive movement have shied away from, and retreated into an individualism, because they couldn’t think of the answer to it.”
Exactly. We must find this answer, and it has fuck all to do with extreme individualism and exotic minorities. It’s what has the power to unite the working class, and, bizarrely enough, we’ve seen a glimpse of it with QAnon – except it did it for the conservatively-minded working class. We must get away from conservatism and liberalism alike. We need a NEW WORLD ORDER. We need a world where the working class are, AT LAST, in charge. The French Revolution almost got there, but Robespierre and Saint-Just were slain by counter-revolutionary forces before they could transform France and the world. What a tragedy.
But now another revolutionary moment is coming, and we can get it right this time. Victory to the workers!
It’s time for the working class to rise and seize power from the elites. It’s time for JUSTICE.
